He was the first cyclist to win all five of cycling's monuments (Paris-Roubaix, Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, and Giro di Lombardia) for a total of eight victories in these races, including three wins in Paris-Roubaix.
